British electronic producer Jon Hopkins has one of the best albums of the year behind him in Luminous Beings.
The record is a project informed by a journey of transcendental meditation and psychedelic exploration, and works as a holistic piece — he also went into great detail into the guidance for listening to the record in interviews when it was released in May.
Luminous Beings is full of woozy, blissful ambience and nods to minimal composition, but Hopkins’ live show shifts the tempo, glitch palette and visual element – this is a school night show that’ll definitely go off, not a chin-stroke special.
