Compton gangsta rap revivalist YG did his bit for political discourse in 2016 with his anti-Trump hit-job FDT (you can guess what he did there), and his Still Brazy album was a narrative-driven deep listening experience. It came after an attempt on his life and on-the-nose tracks like Who Shot me? are riddled with vivid paranoia.
His new album Stay Dangerous shares more vibes with his 2016 mixtape Red Friday, more raw and disjointed, with trap beats from DJ Mustard and a very unlikely nod to Right Said Fred on TOO COCKY.
It’s a menacing, bass-heavy record with the song titles in ALL CAPS so expect this Dublin gig to kick off.
