‘Fuck hotels’: No Surrender 2 at Bernard Shaw

The clock is ticking on the last days of Dublin clubbing, pubbing, cultural (and pizza) institution the Bernard Shaw, after the recent news that it’s closing its doors on Richmond Street South to make way for another hotel in the city.

And by the looks of the No Surrender 2 poster, that clock is ticking down to a few bombshells of their own, with a comic book montage of Mango x Mathman performing amid a blown skyward Garda car, a hotel tower block in flames and a couple of masked stunt lads on scramblers jumping over a DART train. It’s like a parallel universe Love/Hate by Michael Bay on a Buckfast and Jägerbomb rollover.

The pair will be DJing from 6pm, along with 2fm’s Tara Stewart playing a hip-hop set “FULL OF ALL THE BANGERS”. Hopefully they’ll sneak in a few tracks from their brilliant upcoming debut album Casual Work — set to be a landmark LP in Irish bass music when it’s released on November 8.

Mathman is playing a “special Ol Skool Dublin Classics” set, and who knows, maybe Mango will even grab the mic for a few bars coming up to closing time.  He’s already tagged the post ‘Fuck hotels’, so get that going as a chant on the night instead of fuckin Ole Ole Ole Ole.
