Nick Cave & Warren Ellis talk Carnage

As surprise album drops go, this year’s Carnage by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis was always coming. Since 2013’s Push the Sky Away, Warren Ellis has become the leader of the Bad Seeds, with his impressionist synth abstractions dissolving the battered noise-rock and Old Testament clamour of departed disciples Blixa Bargeld and Mick Harvey.

On Skeleton Tree (2016) and Ghosteen (2019), they almost became a duo, with Ellis’s synth and production work steering Cave in miraculously inventive directions.

Tonight is a Q&A that likely follows the format of Cave’s ‘evening with’ fan shows — a mixture of poignant chat, profound musings and intimate music.
