Berlin-based producer and DJ Objekt has just released one of the best electronic albums of the year, and it’ll end up in many of the cross-genre lists over next few weeks.
Cocoon Crush is a step away from his usual nano-scale precision techno, but takes his previous impeccable sound design to extreme levels, for a genuinely engrossing listen. Th album is a hyperreal exploration in organic sound that’s equal parts Future Sound of London ambience and Autechre abstractions.
He’s playing Yamamori Tengu in Dublin this weekend, a Nightcap production. I’d expect the set to lean towards his techno side, but hopefully he encases it with some transportive Cocoon magic.
