Proto-punk icon Patti Smith is having a special celebration in the early hours of tonight/tomorrow morning.
The New York singer-songwriter, poet, activist and all-round legend is marking “Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye: 50 Years of Words and Music”, a celebration of her work with the guitarist, composer and longest-serving member of the Patti Smith Group. It’s a virtual event of poetry, song and stories celebrating 50 years sine their first live performance together.
The last time Smith played Ireland it was a transcendent special guest appearance with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at Kilmainham, vibing off that now impossible to remember magic of a gig outdoors in the Dublin heatwave sun.
